Second half underway...

HT - France lead Croatia 2-1 at the halftime break

It is the first time three goals are scored in the first half of a World Cup final since 1974 World Cup summit clash between West Germany and Netherlands. France took the lead when Croatia forward Mario Mandzukic inadvertently headed home an Antoine Griezmann free-kick in the 18th minute for the first own goal in a World Cup final. Croatia's Ivan Perisic levelled with a powerful shot 10 minutes later after France had failed to clear a Luka Modric free-kick. But Perisic was then responsible for conceding a penalty for handball that was given following a VAR decision and Griezmann coolly converted the spot-kick in the 38th to put the French back in front.

45' - Three minutes added as stoppage time

45' - Another corner for Croatia. Samuel Umtiti is down in the France box and walked off the field. Nothing much came for Croatia from the corner kick

41' - Yellow Card! France's Lucas Hernandez booked for a foul on Ante Rebic

33' - Corner for France.

28' - GOAL! Ivan Perisic scores the equaliser for Croatia

WHAT A STRIKE! Ivan Perisic's thunderous strike from the edge of France area levelled the score in Moscow. From a set piece, Luka Modrid curled it into the France area and found Mario Mandzukic, who brought it down for Domagoj Vida. Vida then set it for Perisic.

Hello and welcome to the live coverage of the 2018 World Cup final between France and Croatia. The match starts at 20:30 IST.

PREVIEW

Croatia face France on Sunday attempting to win their first World Cup while Didier Deschamps' side are aiming to land their second title two decades on from their triumph on home soil. France are clear favourites to triumph in Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium and will be spurred on by the bitter disappointment of losing the Euro 2016 final to Portugal in Paris.

It is a final few people anticipated when football's global showpiece kicked off four weeks ago.

Croatia have brought joy to their Balkan nation of just four million people by defying the odds to progress to the final while reigning champions Germany, then Argentina and Brazil all fell by the wayside in Russia. They have been inspired by mercurial midfielder Luka Modric while coach Zlatko Dalic, who only took over last year with the squad in chaos, has coaxed remarkable performances from his team.

Deschamps, who captained France when they lifted the World Cup in 1998, would become only the third man to win the trophy as both a player and a manager after Franz Beckenbauer and Mario Zagallo. His France side, spearheaded by 19-year-old forward Kylian Mbappe and the more seasoned Antoine Griezmann, are the favourites.
