The players are back on the field. We're set for the last session of the day

Dean Elgar produced a masterclass keeping the Indian bowlers at bay as South Africa went to tea break on Day 3 at 292/5 in Vizag. Elgar smacked his 12th Test century -- also his first against India -- as he took South Africa out of trouble alongside skipper Faf du Plessis. Both added 115 runs for the fourth wicket before Ashwin got rid of the Proteas skipper for 55 in the second session. Elgar then stitched a crucial unbeaten 114-run stand with Quinton de Kock to put South Africa innings back on track. De Kock took his excellent white-ball form into red-ball cricket scoring an unbeaten 69. The duo helped South Africa get within touching distance of avoiding the follow-on as the visitors trailed by 210 runs at tea. For India, it was a disappointing session as the bowlers could only manage one wicket of opposition skipper. Even the tactic of going in with the spinners with the second new ball didn't work out quite well for Virat Kohli and Co.

Elgar and Du Plessis then stitched a crucial unbeaten 90-run partnership to take South Africa out of trouble. In the process Elgar also got to his 14th fifty. The left-hander also got lucky when wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha dropped him off Ravindra Jadeja on 74. Du Plessis, on the other hand, looked in good form and showed positive intent. Both took on the Indian spinners and denied them any wickets. For India, Ishant was the lone wicket-taker in the first session.
