NEW DELHI: Like in the last auction, India's medium-pacer Jaydev Unadkat once again laughed his way to the bank on Tuesday when he was bought by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for a whopping Rs 8.4 crore to become the joint-richest among the millionaires of the Indian Premier League (IPL) players' auction 2019 held in Jaipur. From the bag of uncapped players, Tamil Nadu's Chakaravarthy and Mumbai's Dube saw their names involved in a bidding war of epic proportions. From their selling price of Rs 20 lakh each, Chakaravarthy banked a whopping Rs 8.4 crore to match Unadkat and Dube Rs 5 crore. While Dube will play for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Chakaravarthy will don Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) colours in the cash-rich league.
England allrounder Sam Curran and South African batsman Colin Ingram topped the list of foreign players wanted by franchises, with the former becoming the richest foreign player of the auction.
When Curran's name came up at a base price of Rs 2 crore, Delhi Capitals (DC) and RCB tried to outbid each other, only to be joined late in the game by KXIP, who finally bagged him for Rs 7.2 crore
For Ingram, DC and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) locked horns, but DC managed to bring the South African to their table for Rs 6.4 crore.
Among the other notable players who raked in the big moolah were allrounders Axar Patel, medium-pacer Mohit Sharma and West Indies' Carlos Brathwaite, who took home Rs 5 crore each.
Brathwaite, who is the skipper of Windies' T20I team, was bagged by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), after they were locked in a bidding battle with KXIP. The tall West Indian's base price was Rs 75 lakh.
When Patel came up on the bidding table, KXIP once again showed interest but lost the war to DC, who shelled out Rs 5 crore for the spin-bowling allrounder.
MI and CSK were locked in the battle for Mohit, but the latter was the successful bidder in the end, paying 10 times more from the player's base price of Rs 50 lakh.
Fast bowler Mohammed Shami's latest exploits in Australia made him a hot property at the auction as he pocketed Rs. 4.8 crore and will be seen in the KXIP dugout in the IPL. His former India team-mate and fellow pacer Varun Aaron was bought by RR for Rs. 2.4 crore.

It earned a lifeline for Yuvraj Singh and New Zealand's Martin Guptill, both of who had gone unsold in the first round. MI finally came to the rescue of India's World Cup-winner and bought him at his base price of Rs 1 crore. SRH, meanwhile, added Guptill to their squad for Rs 1 crore as well.
