NEW DELHI: When Virat Kohli is on fire, no bowling attack in the world can stop the Indian captain. With his sheer batting prowess, Kohli has already broken a plethora of records. Not just current cricketers and fans, legends too fall short of words while praising the Indian skipper. The latest to join the bandwagon is Australian cricket legend Steve Waugh.
Waugh feels Kohli will go on to break every batting record except Don Bradman's average of 99.94 in Tests.
"He's (Virat Kohli) got the passion and hunger, the fitness, the desire, the intensity and he loves playing the game. Unless he gets seriously injured, I think he'll break all the batting records besides Bradman's average," Waugh said while talking to Cricket Australia.
Bradman, who played 52 Tests and scored 6996 runs, was dismissed for a duck in his last international appearance against England at the Kennington Oval in 1948.
Kohli recently became the fifth Indian batsman to score 10,000 ODI runs. He achieved the mark in just 205 innings, becoming the fastest to reach the milestone.
Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar took 259 innings to complete 10,000 ODI runs.
Apart from Kohli, the other four Indians in the 10K runs club are Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni.
Kohli is also the second-highest century getter in ODIs. He has 38 centuries under his belt.
Tendulkar is on top of the tally with 49 centuries to his name.
